From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in power within the city.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as key figures in House Halovar could enable the party reach places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
